Hibernate®
Hibernate is a nutrient medium for the maintenance of neural tissue or cells in ambient carbon dioxide levels (US Patent 6,180,404). Hibernate is useful for maintaining neuron viability during microscopy and flow cytometry. Hibernate also extends the recording time for patch clamp and sharp electrode physiology.
Other uses of Hibernate include:
- Brain storage during genotyping of transgenic mice.
- Shipping brain tissue to collaborators.
BrainBits is also the sole supplier of Hibernate medium.
Hibernate-E is useful for embryonic tissue, Hibernate-A is useful for adult tissue.
